Now Playing - David Gray's cover of "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye."
Now Eating - nothing yet.
Now Feeling - hungry.
Now Tweeting - Melanie

*Post-Exam Traumatic Stress, evinced by this morning's dream in which one of our security guards was pestering me about which rooms we were using for exams. It then segued into my producing an episode of To Catch A Predator An Obnoxious Teen, in which a mother was berating her daughter over her internet use: "This website has 53 pop-ups! There's no reason for that!" And this morning's internal soundtrack was the grinding riff of Stop Breaking Down morphed into Love Me Like You with a side of I Don't Want Your Love.

It was a mostly relaxing weekend, the highlight of which was Saturday night's nice meal followed by live music, which is always a good combination in my book. We had a gift card from Legal that my parents had gotten us for Christmas, and Huz had a rare Saturday off. And our friend Willie was doing an acoustic gig here, so we made a late dinner reservation and then caught his act. He and another guy, Don (imaginatively billed as "Willie & Don, Acoustic Duo") played from about 10:45 until almost 2, and only took one break. Their repertoire covered everything from David Gray to James Taylor to The Beatles to Neil Young to Smokey Robinson & The Miracles to Pink Floyd.

And see this?

guitar synth

It's a guitar synth, which Don used mostly for guitar and bass sounds but also used to nice effect for the piano on the David Gray tune. Yes, it ain't got no body!

The crowd was...interesting - it went from a handful of people to packed in the span of one bathroom trip. I had text messaged Steve to see if he wanted to meet up, but when I told him that in addition to interpretive dance there was interpretive AIR GUITAR, he was sold. There were undulating lesbians, a couple who tried repeatedly to Lindy, one guy who kept bobbing to and fro at the foot of the "stage" like a Dipping Bird, and another who would strafe the dance floor with his madd gee-tar stylinz while screaming pertinent words of the chorus. Well, it was slightly more imaginative than "Free Bird." Unfortunately Steve arrived during the break, and the dancers and air guitarists had dispersed.

Now it's back to work, though exams are over and the students are only here at night. We have 2 days off this week (Shavuot), and of course Memorial Day next week. It's a nice way to ease into the summer.

Off to deal with mortgage stuff...grrr.
